Bastion Plantier's Radio

Features:

  • Simple easy to use built in menu system -- no big HUDs required.
  • Haunted Number Station Radio
  • Add your own sound loops
  • Change Parcel Audio
  • In-Depth Access Control System
  • Over 12 minutes of custom audio "Radio Play" style dialog!

Basic Use: Click to turn the radio on, and bring up the main menu.

In the dialog menu, the "Tune" bar tells you what your options to tune to, as well as the station you're currently on. The center number of the tune bar is the station you're currently tuned in to.

Pressing the "<< Tune" button will tune to the left most station on the tune bar; and pressing "Tune >>" will tune to the right most station. Since you can have many stations in your radio, only the previous station, the current station, and the next station are shown on the tune bar. These options change depending on where you're currently tuned in the list.

The "- Volume" and "Volume +" will decrese or increase the volume by 1% respectively.

The "-- Volume" and "Volume ++" will decrease or increase the volume by 10%.

Clicking "Parcel Audio" will allow you or anyone who has access to the radio -- to set the parcel audio stream. That means that technically, non-land owners can set the stream. It's useful if you're hosting a part or something, and you're unable to make it. The parcel audio stream *MUST* start with "http", this is a sanity check for the radio. This feature ONLY works if you are the landowner, or the land is deeded to a group -- but you have a group role that lets you set parcel audio.

"Cancel" will close the menu, but leave the radio on.

"Off" will turn the radio off, will not present a menu.

You can click the radio at any time to bring up the menu again.

Please be mindful of your neighbors inworld while using this, and consider "Restrict gesture and object sounds to this parcel" under About Land > Sound.

Admin Access Menu

Only the radio owner may access the Admin Menu. The Admin menu lets you choose who may interact with the radio, by default only the radio owner can. You can bring up the Access Control Menu, by holding a click on the radio, waiting one second, and then letting go.

Each button has an option to toggle, as well as a "✔" or "✘". A "✔" next to the option means it is enabled; where a "✘" means it is disabled.

"Cancel" will obviously cancel out of this menu.

"Landowner" will allow whoever owns the land the radio is on, to use the radio. This is useful if a friend who owns the land, lets you rez things on their land -- or where you're renting the land and lending the radio to someone.

"Group" will allow anyone who is in the same group that the radio is set to, to use the radio.

"Everyone" will allow EVERYONE to use the radio.

"Allowlist" is a special option. You must create a notecard called "ALLOWLIST" and put it in to the radio's inventory. In this allow list add system names of avatars you wish to give access to the radio -- one per line; and not display names. Once the notecard is made, and ready -- click Allowlist. It will then try to process each name and add it to an internal access list.

Adding your own radio loop channels

You can create and upload any sound file in Second Life up to 30 seconds long. Ideally this should loop nicely.

As long as the sound is named as a three digit number with three decimal places, the front dial should "tune" in to the channel visibly, and show up on the menu.
